Earth Day 2026

We had a very engaged small group attend Earth Day at camp on Saturday, April 18th.

The day began with a devotion based on Deuteronomy 10:14 (ESV) Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. We talked about the rhythms like 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year, tidal changes that happen twice a day and how all these things are not happen in a static place in the universe, but we are traveling out as the universe expands…we are spiraling out. Then we looked at the layers of the earth and how they could represent our layers like the parts of us everyone sees and then those that are more hidden. God is in all these rhythms and layers and as you look at them together they create ripples. How do we share the love of God in our personal ripples, the ripples that go out to others and the ripples that lead to God.

After the devotion, the group bundled up a walked out to stand 3 where we began to see the life that growing again this spring. Lara gave a talk about how we manage this space, but also how after the last tree harvest the land is telling us what it should be.

There were crafts where we made our own acorn people, and then several different types of bird feeders and snacks to help boost the energy of our feathered friends that are migrating through our area. We made ice cream cone/PB/bird seed hangers, birdseed mixed with gelatin formed in cooking cutters, cheerios on pipe cleaners and clothespin feeders. There was so much creativity and joy in the activity.

Our theme is “Ripples” this year and the scripture is from John 15:12 Love each other just as I have loved you. As you think about this Earth Day, what are you doing to support God’s creation and love each other in a positive way.
