Spring in to Camp 2021

Join us for (Socially Distanced) Spring Into Camp 2021 Thurs May 13th – Grounds and Spaces     Saturday May 15th – John Gray and Tamarack Lodges Thurs May 20th – Grounds and Spaces     Saturday May 22nd – Cabins and Waterfront All 4 days will run from approximately 8am to 4pm – lunch will be provided. What is Fall Out of Camp (and Spring in to Camp)?

Fall Out of Camp is a weekend devoted to getting Camp Tamarack ready for the winter months. Most of our 21 buildings do not have heat or insulation, so we need to make sure the water and power is shut off, the windows and doors are closed and locked and ready for Wisconsin wind, snow and temperatures. We also close down the waterfront, which means cleaning out the boat house of anything the animals can make a nest of, and taking those items, along with the watercraft, to their winter storage areas. New Wheels at Camp

Camp has received 8 new wheels this fall! Attached to those wheels are a new John Deere tractor for mowing+ and new Camp truck for hauling+! The First Baptist Church in Ixonia heard our plight of the riding lawn mower deciding not to work anymore this year and really stepped up to work with Kim and provide Camp a brand new John Deere X570 that will mainly be used for mowing grass in those hard to reach places that the big tractor just can’t get, but is too big for a push mower to handle. Tamarack Tales: The Water Tells A Story

Camp Tamarack hosted its first-ever Tamarack Tales nature camp in July of 2018. With three lakes and a little over 180 acres, there is a lot of nature to be had at Camp Tamarack Most campers know about Orlando Lake, which is where our swimming beach is. Some know that Orlando is connected to Knight Lake, which is what the Vespers area overlooks. Tamarack Tales – New offering in 2018

 The camp runs July 15-18 and there is still time to register!  Tamarack Tales is an interactive hands-on-get-dirty exploration of Camp Tamarack’s forest, prairie, wetland and lake features. Participants will start by learning to use DOTS (The Digital Observation Technology Skills) technology kits to analyze lake samples for water quality. This inquiry-based lesson navigates the basics of the scientific method and focuses on the importance of good scientific communication and sharing discoveries with others.  They will use the technology tools found in the DOTS kits to make observations, take measurements, explore the micro and macro details of their environment, and learn…
