Please join me in wishing Rev. Kim Drost well as she takes on a new role as Interim Pastor for First Baptist Church in Ixonia.
Kim has been serving camp in various ways for over a decade :
- Head cook (with one year of Assistant cook) = ~750 meals including camp casserole and “rolling out the dough”
- Camp Pastor = incalculable prayers and songs – especially in “Right field”
- Tamarack Tales Director = rockets, water testing, solar systems, turtle crossings
- Assistant Minister = billions of blades of grass cut, numerous rentals, spaces cleaned, trees cut up, batteries and lightbulbs changed, projects overseen and power outages
Kim has a deep passion for ministry and a care of God’s creation whether it be the campers needing to be fed as there was always a plan B,C,D,E and F, caring for the watershed that Camp Tamarack sits on, building relationships with the clergy and other groups of Waupaca or taking care of those that utilized camp spaces.
Since 2017 Kim’s focus has been as Assistant Minister – Camping: Facilities and Guest Services. She has worked to care for and improve all areas of camp including fixing the kitchen cutting board in the serving line, reinventing how we utilize the Basile Retreat Center, updating the John Gray flooring, replacing the Tamarack carpeting and upgrading Canteen, maintaining forestry plans, repairing trim for and painting of cabins, updated roofing and more. There are so many areas that Kim contributed to the success of Camp Tamarack’s ministry. What Kim is most proud of in this role is probably something no one will ever see – but it makes storing and moving equipment easier. A role like this is often in the background and if things are going well no one notices. Thank you Kim for all you have done!
Kim’s last day working for the Region will be April 23rd and she will have a transition week before she starts her interim with Ixonia on May 1st.
Please join us on April 23rd from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Region Office or via Zoom link to wish Kim well on her new opportunity.
